This explains why after several years of effort, some people with hyperopia experience improved distance vision. This accommodating effort can however cause visual strain, especially at close range.
With age and the loss of elasticity of the crystalline lens, latent hyperopia will slowly begin to manifest itself with intermediate vision and distance vision becoming increa- singly blurred.
To correct hyperopia, the laser is applied around the pupil, at the periphery of the cornea, in order to make it more curved at the centre.
